I found one in the bushes at my mother in laws place do these have any value? I dunno much about them.
Reply:I actually found 2 of them here's some pics one is really buried I barley got a pic of the front of em.This one I barley got a picture of.
Reply:Put them on craigslist and don't take less than 1500 a piece as is. Guys will beat a path to your door for two shorthoods.
Reply:I dunno much about them I know I've seen some restored and these would need full restorations I'm sure. they have just been setting out side forever id like if somebody could give me a bit of schooling on these. Are they short hoods they both looked the same to me
Reply:Yes, they look like Short Hoods. They're not worth $1500. apiece in the shape they're in. Give us the serial #s and we'll date them for you and you can get started with them.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money. -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
Reply:i dunno if their for sale 100% yet what should i offer for them im guessing the engines are seized up etc are parts avaliable still? I got serial numbers on the one and i lost the paper i wrote it on lol. their about a hour away from me so i dont get a chance to get their often.
Reply:You've got some good money in copper leads there too. If the insulation is shot I'd be skinning them with a box cutter after cutting them into one-foot chunks. I tacked a tab on a hunk of angle so I could hold it in my vise, then laid the pieces in the vee for slitting. A visegrip held the end so I could use a box cutter with both hands.Prices vary a lot. They'd be about 500 bucks each in my area by the looks of them. Pull them out with a truck and take better pics.
Reply:Parting them out on ebay will get you more than $500. each on them. I don't know your situation, but with two machines I'd be tempted to get one running using the other for parts. The copper content in the generator will bring top dollar too. I don't know what is required to get top dollar from a salvage yard with these, but I suspect you'll be required to separate the gen from the motor and strip the armature yourself. Selling them outright I wouldn't take a nickel less than $500. each.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money. -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
Reply:I would fix one and keep the other for parts since there is no reason to get rid of spares if you are gonna run one.Offer a lowball like three hundred for the pair, scrap the leads, then play with the welders at leisure.I don't inspect "rough" machines too heavily when buying because that can drive up the price. I just offer lowballs and don't buy if it's not comfortably cheap. The two machines would scrap for well over three hundred so that's a safe price.
Reply:I dont intend to use one. you couldnt make any money with one around these parts I cant even get people to pay to weld a muffler on. I just wanted to know a ball park figure since i know lots of people love these old machines. if i do get them it would be a crying shame to see them go to scrap. id rather sell them to sombody how may want to restore them.
Reply:Scrapping those shorthoods would get you lynched if a pipewelder hears about it. If you don't want to mess with them putting them on craigslist or ebay as is will get you a decent amount. Or call Bills welder repair in OK City. I'm sure they could put you on to someone who would be happy to have them. They have a website, just google sa 200 welder repair and you'll find them.
Reply:If I parted them I'd do it on Ebay for max return. Pull a piece, sell it, repeat. Lots of people want parts and don't have organ donors handy.
