It's been quite awhile since I have posted anything, much less anything I have done for that matter. So the latest projects.A cart for work. Makes my life a whole lot easier.A spare tire mount for my trailer, get's the spare out of the back of the truck. Just have to paint the spare rim to match now.The cart is all 1/8" frame is all angle iron, 1/8" sheet for the shelf, random piece of tube and square for the handle.Square tube is also for screwdrivers/extensions/prybars. Almost forgot, largely welded with a 110 Eastwood mig, some with a Hobart 220 Stick with 6010 1/8" around 100/110 amps. The same square tube is used on the spare tire mount, hub and spindle are off a bent trailer axle, brace is a piece of 1/4" steel.Welded with Hobart 220 stick welder 7018-1 1/8" around 90 amps.Last edited by kcb37; 11-06-2014 at 08:49 PM.
Reply:Those will work. Is that hub mounted on 2'' tube ? If so you can use it for double duty. A hub works well as a bending jig. Just slide it in receiver tube.
Reply:Consider the tool holders on the edge of the cart idea officially stolen!Be wary of The Numbers: Figures don't lie,. but liars can figure.Welders:2008 Lincoln 140 GMAW&FCAW2012 HF 165 'toy' GTAW&SMAW1970's Cobbled together O/A
Reply:Hadn't thought of using the hub as a bender, no longer spins either. It is 1 1/2" tube to.Go ahead and steal the holder idea, not really my idea to begin with just did it a little different with what I had.
Reply:I have seen a few spare tire mounts made using a good wheel hub with bearings and races installed. Handy to have along in case of a bearing failure on the road. But then, if you keep up with your wheel bearing maintenance, it won't likely be needed. |
