I'm having a hell of a time tracking down a Miller or Lenco tig torch adapter. All I can find is this SafeLoc CK crapshell adapter. Am I stuck with this thing? If you can, please enlighten me on what I've gotten myself into with this TL torch. Here's a look at the SafeLoc connector and you can read what it says in description at the bottom. Apparently the 5/8" rh connection that matches my one-piece superflex.https://www.arc-zone.com/index.php?m...oducts_id=9100The standard sizes seem to be 3/8" and 7/8" connectors for the other more common adapters. (miller/lenco) Does anyone know if the 2 piece cable would have a standard/different size power connector?. Tell you the truth, this one-piece shows very firm opposition to twist—the cable is very flexible, but not radially. If you aren't in total alignment and you don't keep a kung-fu grip on the torch handle, it will snap back to its "un-twisted" state. Wondering if the two-piece would have been better in this regard. ( I may have been a little over-dramatic about the radial twist)Thanks for any feedback. - KennethSomething like this an option? If/when I get a light duty torch, I don't want to be starting from scratch.  Found this fitting, not the right one but similar out there for what I need?..noticed the female side is wrong.https://www.arc-zone.com/index.php?m...ducts_id=10040I don't think I know enough about fitting sizes to navigate this co's offerings..    http://westernenterprises.com/enterp...size-fittings/Last edited by KennethD; 09-18-2014 at 01:25 AM.
Reply:The CK adapter looks standard to me, but when looking at stuff like that it's best to check CK Worldwides own homepage. Or give them a call / email.Anyway if it is just a dinse adapter with a gas connection you want you have a few here:http://store.cyberweld.com/wetigtopoad.htmlOtherwise you could tell us what machine you have and exactly what torch you want to put on it.Last edited by Pete.S.; 09-18-2014 at 07:12 AM.

Reply:HelloI have a one piece superflex with 5/8' rh threads. It has been confirmed by CK WW that their proprietary clamshell adapter is what I need. I did not know that this cable's one-piece 5/8" rh was the "odd man out" in the connector world. Also, I can't find a coupling in existence available on the web that can adapt this fitting to either of the standard sizes. Woe is me.
Reply:Well sorry to say, but that is the way they get you to buy there adapters.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Dealer Consumables for the PT and IPT torch's
Reply:I for one don't really understand the problem. The 5/8" thread on the safeloc connector in the link above refers to the gas, not the superflex cable. https://www.arc-zone.com/index.php?m...oducts_id=9100You can just cut that off and put whatever connector you want on that hose.Or is it the price of the adapter that is the problem? On my CK9V torch with a superflex I use another brand adapter. But the adapter is super simple if you want to build your own. It's just a male dinse connector on one side and a connector that fits the superflex cable on the other side. In the middle the gas is T'd in so the gas can flow in the middle. If you go to an industrial supplier you can get any kind of gas connector, in any size, with any kind of thread - NPT, BSP etc etc. Any place that can press gas and hydraulic hoses for the industry have this stuff or can get it it.Last edited by Pete.S.; 09-18-2014 at 04:14 PM.
Reply:I highly doubt they are trying to corner the tig torch adapter market! The 210 is neither a 17 or a 26, but since they designed the torch to be compatible with standard 17 (3) series parts, you'd think they would stick to convention on the connector. They made it easy on consumables, etc. They should have just jumped up to the 7/8" rh like most 26/one piece cables have. My non professional opinion of course.
Reply:OK, so you are talking about the connector at the end of the superflex cable closest to the machine?Well, on my CK9V it comes with a 3/8" BSP connector. You could probably fit any connector on it. It's pressed on.

Reply:Those are special power crimp connectors.  The easiest and cheapest way is the CK SL5-35 adapter with the 5/8-14 thread for the superflex power cable.  The other option might have been to buy the torch with the two piece cable, then there would be no issue!GlenMiller Dynasty 200DX - Millermatic 350P - Hypertherm Powermax 45Want to sell!! - Hobart Handler 150

Reply:I checked out CK's website and it seems that there are 4 different size fittings on the machine end of the superflex hose depending on the maximum current on the torch. That could possibly also mean that the superflex cable has different amount of copper in it as well as perhaps a different outer diameter as well.So it might not work to switch fittings to a smaller one.Anyways, I found that arc zone has a bunch of fittings and stuff for whatever modification one would like to do - including putting on new fittings on the superflex hose or making your own dinse gas adapter with some brazing.https://www.arc-zone.com/index.php?m...dex&cPath=5_72The clamshell design might not be all bad because I have another one that is inside molded rubber and it has a small leak. So the rubber needs to be cut off before any work can be done. And then it doesn't have any insulation anymore.Last edited by Pete.S.; 09-18-2014 at 07:15 PM.
Reply:I really thing buying the salfloc kit would be the best at this point. If you try to change the end and really don't know how you will screw up the torch cable and then you will need a new one$$$ wasted.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:I just got a CK clamshell last week. It's a simple durable design, the gas hose is not cheap vinyl, it's rubber with a woven cover. The CK is way better than my weldcraft dinse adaptor. See if you can find one locally, to put your hands on it and see for yourself. I thought the same thing as you from the online pics.Thermal arc 211iCk flex-loc 150 & 130Clamps, saws & grindersHarbor freight 80 amp inverter
Reply:Austin! Thank you for chiming in. I have seen it both ways in pics online. Did you get yours locally or online.. if so.. where? I'm wondering if it's a crap shoot as to what will arrive if I buy it online. My closest local shops have premium prices on everything and usually have limited selection of stuff on shelves. They carry basic stuff.Edited: The deed is done. Ordered from eBay vendor Weldfabulous.  Here's the link to what I bought. Pic shows no branding like the CK website but does clearly show the braided gas hose. We'll see!http://www.ebay.com/itm/251625721165Last edited by KennethD; 09-18-2014 at 10:26 PM.

Reply:You were absolutely right. The adapter arrived and quality is top notch on this CK product. A+. Impressed. I did not expect that at all from this style of adapter. Went from being my least wanted option to a highly recommended first choice to anyone. My fears of it being cheap or plastic-like..pretty laughable now. This is more like Glock frame material. Solid. The lug on the dinse is machined, not pressed in like on my Lenco. Attached gas hose w high quality braided cover..6ft. -will reach flowmeter no problem. One thing I will do though, is take some 400 grit paper and smooth the edge where the lines exit the adapter. Feels pretty sharp where the Superflex+gas line will likely be doing a fair amount of rubbing.
