Welding Lessons

Recently had a couple gals want to learn to weld. They both are artistic and want to start working with metal. In 3 hours they were both getting pretty good with the mig. Well, at least good enough for art. They were really good sports and quick learners and we had a lot of fun. Attached Images

Reply:What is it with women wanting to learn to weld? I recently had 2 work at my shop on a Saturday morning and another wants to come with them the next time. Before running stringers gets boring, I have them start welding pieces together, what ever scrap comes out of the bin. They end up with a sculpture made out of pieces of scrap to take home. We will get more serious next time. This method has worked well for teaching hobby weldors and they don't get bored.

I've been in that position but in a technical field where you learn a new technology and teach it to others, some of who have way more experience than you. Gotta be careful not to sound like they don't know anything without skipping the basics of this new thing they know nothing about. Especially when there are people in there that have very little experience.
