MG600 Rods

Hi, fairly new here but recently got back into welding as I've always loved it.  I'm by no means a pro but I'd consider myself decent enough.  Anyways today someone gave me a case of MG600 rods from Messer.  If these rods were a woman I'd take them to bed.   I love these things.  Almost makes me feel as if I'm cheating due to how easy and smooth these rods work for me.  I know the 600 series is Hi-tensile so I don't really need that so much, but does anyone know of any rods that would be comparable to the messer MG's?  Or know a good place to get the MG600 or MG500 rods?
Reply:as discussed in another thread  7014 works great, as someone else stated" they weld themselves"  ..Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...

Reply:I've always loved the Messer rods. My LWS used to stock them in a variety of flavors. I've still got some 7014, 6011 and 7018 from MG in various sizes, as well as a box of their MG80(?) maintenance rods up at the shop.Sadly when my LWS changed hands, the bean counters stopped wanting to stock MG rods. Due to the high demand by many of the local municipalities, they managed to keep some of the "odd" MG types in stock as well as the 7018's, but every thing else has now eventually changed over to Lincoln rods..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I love the mg 600. Only drawback is its like 3.00 per stick. If you are looking for something that runs smooth and makes you look like a pro try mg 80T-AC+ It smells like 6010 but runs smooth in all positions and you get 80,000 tensile. Price isn't bad either.Lincolin Power Wave 450, Lincoln Powermig 255, Lincoln Pro Mig 140, Lincoln Squarewave Tig 275, Miller Big 40 G(with Hobart Hefty suitcase), Thermal Arc 95S and Esab PCM875 in an already full machine shop.

Reply:MG MESSER INDUSTRIES had a great cast iron welding rod nickel, 2 levels and I thought that was expensive at $3-4 a rod. Never tried the 600..It sure you can find this stuff anymore what a shame, back when things were good!
