Any problems with new miller 252 migs

Well you guys steered me in the right direction with my last purchase of torches so I figured i'd consult you again and see what you think. I've been looking at and researching the new millermatic 252 migs. I ran 250's at my last job and they were good machines so I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a 252. But just wanted to know if if there was any problems or design flaws with the new ones. Read some stuff on the internet some people said there perfect others said they had problems. just trying to get some more opinions.thanks in advanceJustin
Reply:In my opinion the best 250-300 amp might welder out there. The only issue I had was the M-25 gun. If you plan on using dual-shield or spray arc it won't last long, replaced mine with a Bernard Q-300.

Reply:I got a few of them off of eBay for less than $100 a piece otherwise 250-300 at a LWS.

Reply:I have not personally used one but I have heard several people say that they like the older 251 better than the 252. They are good reliable machines and I wouldn't worry too much about buying used.The Lincoln 255XT and Thermal Arc 252i are also very nice if you are not set on buying blue. Reply:Had my 252 for right about a year and absolutely no issues. Very good arc and has plenty of power for what goes through my shop. Reply:Finally went down and picked one up today. Now I just have to get some wire and new outlet to plug it in. Total came to $3046 with machine, rental and deposit for argon/co2 mix big tank, spool of .035 lincoln wire,  and new digital auto darkening hood. Cant wait to try it.

Reply:I've had mine for about a year and it's been fantastic.   I've only run er70s-6 through mine and short circuit.   Perhaps one day I'll get a spool gun or push/pull for it but I don't do much aluminum.   It's got a smooth arc and plenty of umph for thick stuff and good duty cycle for thinner stuff.I broke mine in on some 16ga and 14ga steel and thought the machine was broke because I couldn't get the fan to kick on.  So i cranked it up and burned on some 1/4" for awhile and it finally kicked on.  Let us know how you like it.Ben

Reply:Well I didn't forget about you guys just been busy welding away and working my day job so havent had much time got a few im portant projects done like fixing my firewood processor's wedge and some cracks it developed and some stupid stuff that has come up. It probably hasn't paid for itself yet but it sure feels like it every time I have something pop up that needs some welding. Ill try and get some pics up soon of what I did I got the big important projects coming up soon. And you guys were right I already melted that plastic piece that holds the cone on.
