Is there a way to determineHow many hours a Lincoln PM 350MP has operatedwhat version of Firmware is presently installed?I have downloaded but not installed the latest software fromLincoln's PowerWaveSoftware site.I imagine that upon receiving the serial #, Lincoln will be ableto provide me with a Build Date and possibly a service historyfor the machine?.
Reply:build date is easy. look at the serial number.U19912xxxxxthe sample I showed U = united states 1 = main plant in Ohio.99 = 1999, 12 = December, xxxxx = sequence number.hour meter and firm ware is easy also. go to the web site you got the soft ware update from and download the power wave manager.with this program and a rs232 cable you see into the control board.look at the fault logs, check calibration, see serial numbers of the different pc boardsand the firmware version. when you find the right tab you can see the arc hours on the welder.Be careful and don't play with the calibration page unless you have a load bank and calibrated amp and volt meters. you can mess this welder up big time.
Reply:Many thanks for the very helpful reply.Using the decoding method provided, my unit's serial number U10505xxxxxbreaks down to a build date of 2005.05. A little older than I guessed it mightbe but perhaps explained by time in inventory before delivery.I noticed the PowerWave Manager utility earlier but the description suggestedto me that it was for other machines. I've downloaded it and will try connectingthis weekend (using care to just look at Arc Hours and not change parameters.)Best Regards..
