So I switched my gun from the push/pull for aluminum over to a regular mig for mild steel. I was going to switch it back again today but had a thought about what I could do to save myself the time, hassle, and 25ft of expensive wire everytime???Before I put the push/pull back on I was thinking.....why not just hook up an LN-25 to the Spool Gun lugs for mild steel and leave the push/pull gun on the front for aluminum?Anyone ever try it?I don't see why it wouldn't work........the LN-25 isn't really any different than a spool gun.Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v  Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain
Reply:Don't know why not, Lincoln sells a combination of the LN-25 with the V350-PRO here;http://www.lincolnelectric.com/produ...350proln25.aspI'd call the Lincoln store store, maybe with the right connector you could do all the CV programs including pulse.Matt

Reply:Please post any results that you come up with, as I am very interested in the same thing. I called Lincoln with this same question and It took some explaining as to why I would want to do this in the first place. Once we got past that I was told to use mode 5 cv but without the 14 pin on the 350mp you would have to jump two pins to trigger the power supply, leaving the other gun hot. If you set the switch to spool gun then the drive rolls will not try to feed the wire through the gun that you are not using. I would think that someone could make an adapter plug that would simplify this. If an rc ln25 could be hooked up that would be very useful in my opinion.

Reply:Ok, I don't know why duane, but that thought NEVER crossed my mind. what a bonehead.Ok, well,  I can do that. But, it still is a hassle. Two guns hooked up to one machine is still easier. If I switch the toggle switch to spool gun, it will stop the drive rolls on the push/pull gun. So that should be cool.I will work it out and let you all know what I come up with.Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v  Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain
Reply:OK.  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something about the push/pull arrangement you have.  I showed that method to a couple guys at work who never thought about it either.  Easy to do if you're not paying for the wire like at home.  15' doesn't sound like much but it can mean the difference between finishing a job and having to put a new roll on.  And that 15' at the end of a roll when you're out?  Roll it up on an empty spoolgun spool and use it in the spoolgun if you run short on wire and need it.I agree on the two gun-two wires logic.  I'm setting up the old Arico MIGet with a wire feeder in addition to the hardwired spoolgun for the very same reason.  Aluminum in the spoolgun and ER70S (or SS) in the wire feeder.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:Just a question.  we have always run our ln25 across the arc on cv.  yes we have done it cc on machines that didn't have cv.

Reply:Miller has recently released a feeder that connects to a few of the millermatics that does exactly this, I wish lincoln would do the same.I would like the rc feature on the ln25 to be compatible if at all possible.
Reply:Originally Posted by Black WolfSo from your information, this application WILL work on Setting 5, with a patch cord made up to get the trigger signals converted from the 14 pin Amphenol, to the 6 pin Amphenol, and with the selector switch set on Spool Gun to disengage the internal drive motor?...
Reply:OK guys......After a while fiddling with this setup and scaring the crap out of my son......It does work. Kind of.If you are familiar with the Lincoln/Tweco mig guns, they have an amphenol connector on the machine side and a two male spade connection on the gun side. I disconnected the spade connection and jumpered them. The machine closed the contactor and went into OCV of 67volts. Then while it was in ON mode on the LED, I then paralleled the spade connectors from the PM350MP and the LN-25 at the gun connector. While I did this I was able to maintain an arc no problem. So the "Across the arc"  feature is an issue but not a roadblock as far as I can tell. It can be done. The question is "How am I going to do this automatically?" I sent an email to Lincoln Electric. I will keep you guys updated when I hear back.I am heading to Las Vegas with the ol ball and chain for a week to celebrate 13years of marriage. Be back on Saturday. Hopefully with a fistfull of cash. If I do, I will be buying another PM350MP and use one for steel and one for aluminum and delete this whole thread!!!! hahahahahahaHold the fort down boys,JokerLincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v  Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain

Reply:Originally Posted by KGIORAnother thing that I find frustrating is that the push/pull gun will control the wfs but not the spool gun (it is disabled when you flip the switch). The feature is in the gun and in the machine but they elected to disable it with this combination.
Reply:Yeah, I know what you learned....that no matter how much sense you make, I can still come up with a goofy arsed question that can make it harder than it has to be, huh? hahaha....Man, I tell you, seriously, I stay up at night thinking about stupid stuff like this. I just lay there in bed while my wife is dreaming about some stud, and I try to figure out how to do something quirky just to see if it can be done. This is just the stuff that I am willing to share! Reply:hey black wolf, what advantage does running ln's on cc afford over cv?  I can't recall off the top of my head, but some wires don't like to be run off of cc.  I run mostly hard wire and fluxcore 1/16 and smaller when I get to burn it.
Reply:Hello Scott,In my limited opinion, Not Much...If I have access to a CV capable machine, I use CV... If I only have access to a CC-Only machine, I do what I have to do.If given the choice, I PREFER to use CV on suitcase feeders - It is much easier for ME as that is what I run feeders on when I am in the shop, so the settings are fairly close. When I use CV, I don't CARE what the current is, and vise-versa, so there is always a learning curve when I have to switch to CC.I am sure others with more experience using suitcases on CC will chime in eventually with their personal experiences and opinions.Joker - Yeah, you definitely keep me on my toes... LOL... But that is NOT a bad thing.... Happy Anniversary.Later,Jason
Reply:Black WolfTrying not to get to far of topic here but the spool gun I am was referring to is the Prince XL. It can be setup as a spool gun or push / pull with little effort. Lincoln elected to disable the wfs reading when the switch is set to spool gun on the 350mp only. If you flip the switch to push/pull then it will read the adjustment from the gun then you can switch back to spool gun setting and weld. On the 255xt it will read and weld as set from the spool gun. Lincoln made it more convenient to use push/pull on the 350mp and spool on the 255xt.Sorry I just wanted to clear the up.Thanks,Ken
Reply:Well Thank You very much for that information....I truly did NOT know that, and will have to spend some time tinkering with the Spool Gun at work over the summer. The shop has a PrinceXL spool gun as well, and yes, I am aware that it is easily converted to a Push-Pull, but we do so little Aluminum, that I never investigated beyond that...I went through the Lincoln Operator's Manual for the PowerMig 350MP, and followed the steps they outlined to get up and running with the Spool Gun... And stopped my education there...Thanks again,Have a Good Day.Later,Jason
Reply:I'm going to have to check my PM300 manual (8 years old). I can't remember if the PrinceXL ran synergic or not.Be damned interesting if the software was enabled and then removed on later machines wouldn't it.Now I just gotta remember where it is (the new 350 manual has reset instructions the 300 manual didn't)....Matt
Reply:That didn't take long...Nope, no synergic with spoolgun, have to measure wire and tell the 300 the IPM.MattMatt,If you have that spool gun hook it up and set the switch to push/pull and turn the dial on the gun and see if it reads it, I'm curious if the 300 behaves the same as the 350.Ken,
Reply:I hooked up a external  feeder to my PM-300 a long time ago. It was a Hobart 2210 120 volt feeder. Used the 5 setting. and regular contactor and switched to the spool-gun setting.. What I am  trying to figure out now is, how to hook up a LN-25 pro to a C-300 Powerwave?I know I will have to get the lugs live by using the spool-gun 7pin rec. but it's auto sense on the spool-gun with no switch. What pins tell the machine it has the spool-gun hooked up? Contactor pins?  I want to load the machine with solid wire or a pull aluminum gun, and use dual-shield in the LN-25 pro. I have used CC (Stick) setting, but prefer using the #7 gas shielded setting.  I guess I could jump the contactor pins to see if the lugs get hot? I am not even sure which pins are the contactor ones? I have not even got that far yet.

Reply:It seems the Poweremig 350, and my C-300 Powerwave are going to hook up the same way. The differences in machines is a manual switch for the MP-350 and programming for the C-300. (Set P-17 to spool-gun/standard or push-pull) They both auto sense through the 7 pin amphenol. I am getting a plug/switch/pot setup built now. It will kill the the drive motor when when set to spool-gun my way. The gas valve will still be open, but I have quick disconnects to plug from the main machine to the LN-25 pro. This will allow me to run a standard gun/Eliminator pull gun on the C-300, and dual shield CV in the LN-25 pro. (# 7 dual-shield slope setting)
