Hey guys,Had some good suggestions and feedback on the project last week with the Stronghand tools vices.Checkout this video, any thoughts on what happened with the chop saw?Checkout my youtube channel:  http://www.youtube.com/turbocobra
Reply:Off fall of metal got grabbed by the blade when it tilted and got tossed. You are lucky it didn't get sucked into the cover and tossed back at you..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Yea, makes sense, probably the one advantage that the old carbon cutoff wheel type blades would be better than the steel carbide tooth blade...Checkout my youtube channel:  http://www.youtube.com/turbocobra

Reply:Ok thanks for the suggestion, I will look into that.  What's odd is this new saw has index holes for the fence to snap into for regular cuts, 45's, etc I think it's where they recommend the work to be positioned for optimum cut with the carbide blade.I will play around with it.  What's odd, is that I have made 100's of cuts just like it and never had that.Checkout my youtube channel:  http://www.youtube.com/turbocobra
Reply:I would not doubt that Dewalt set the position, I have seen that before and it was similar. It can happen to a Carborundum blade, usually the blade just shatters.People all have a special need for the saw most want to cut ten inch material with 45 degree cuts, with a ten inch blade. I have seen people say things like, "they do that so you have to buy a bigger saw". But it is for reasons of contact angle of the blade. When you finish the cut you should always bury the blade, let it go all the way down into the bed as well with a quick motion. That helps to hide a bad contact angle. You should keep the blade buried until it stops or the cut off is cleared.Sincerely, William McCormick
Reply:You should always have support for the drop end, steel, wood, whatever."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt

Reply:Originally Posted by walkerThis is what really happened, the drop started falling and the corner hooked a tooth on the saw. Have to support the offcut. I have cut thousands of pieces with that saw, even supported it sometimes chucks small pieces across the shop, miter cuts are the worst.
Reply:Am I the only one who noticed the lack of a cord grip on the 220 volt line going to the switch on the sander? Vibration will eventually cut through the insulation of the cord on the sharp edges of the hole on the switch box.................
Reply:So true, but they also did not use an exposed surface mount work cover plate. For SOW SOOW SJO you are actually supposed to use a strain relief connector and if you wanted to do it professionally you would use a strain relief with basket. When I hook up welders I use a strain relief in the panel or sub panel, and a separate basket a basket like they use to pull wire. I lag bolt the basket to a wooden stud or through bolt it to cinder block or metal studs. I have used double expansion anchors on exterior block walls. Then I use a strain relief with basket to connect to the welder. A lot of guys have pulled electrical panels off the wall trying to get the welder to reach. Or when someone moved their welder while they were welding.Sincerely, William McCormick
Reply:Thanks Everyone, I appreciate the feedback.  I have some mounts made to mount the chopsaw to the end of my 96" work table, and need to figure out something to support the drop end, so will get going on that soon. Thanks for the thoughts on strain releif for wiring.  I am not an electrician and have very little experience with it, some good points made in that area.  I do plan to change out the switch and put a safety quick stop button on it.Checkout my youtube channel:  http://www.youtube.com/turbocobra
