This was a father son project. It's a downdraft burning table for his GoTorch CNC machine.Box is sealed, inside there is a funnel where dross and scraps fall into the yellow drawer. The hole is for his vent fan that will take fumes out his his shop.Lots of wire got used on this project.

Reply:Love the John Deere colors!GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:Matches the GoTorch CNC colors.

Reply:Nice job! The exhaust tube looks a little thin though.  12v battery, jumper cables, and a 6013.I only have a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/VPT/244788508917829

Reply:Good looking project!I have about 35 pieces of 3"x42"x 3/16" that were mistakenly sent for a friend's cnc 48"plasma table.  Company didn't want them back.  I've been considering making an indoor downdraft welding table (could have possible future use for cnc as well).   I now weld in the basement except for stick but would like to be able to do all inside with decent exhaust.   How are your flat bars supported?  Most I've seen are slotted into box or c channel at the ends.  Yours seem to be tacked to support rods os some type.  Any pictures of the build?Last edited by storeman; 12-16-2014 at 10:00 PM.30+ yrs Army Infantry & Field Artillery, 25 yrs agoMiller 350LX Tig Runner TA 210, spool gunLincoln 250/250 IdealArcESAB PCM 500i PlasmaKazoo 30"  vert BSKazoo 9x16 horiz BSClausing 12x24 lathe20T Air Press
Reply:it looks stout.  If you can rework the slats to go diagonal it'll minimize torch travel over them, otherwise you may wind up cutting directly over one during a straight cut.

Reply:Bars are supported by the same flat bar used for the slats. Round stock tacked on each side is used to capture them, bars are not welded in. The exhaust tube is a piece of scrap pipe I had laying around, good fit for the flex duct.
Reply:Thanks for the pictures.  I see the round stock down the center. Do you have pictures of the end details?  Anyone have the link to Jim Holt's build?30+ yrs Army Infantry & Field Artillery, 25 yrs agoMiller 350LX Tig Runner TA 210, spool gunLincoln 250/250 IdealArcESAB PCM 500i PlasmaKazoo 30"  vert BSKazoo 9x16 horiz BSClausing 12x24 lathe20T Air Press

Reply:Thanks.  I'm hoping to be able to use clamps within the table, so I will keep my slats squared up.30+ yrs Army Infantry & Field Artillery, 25 yrs agoMiller 350LX Tig Runner TA 210, spool gunLincoln 250/250 IdealArcESAB PCM 500i PlasmaKazoo 30"  vert BSKazoo 9x16 horiz BSClausing 12x24 lathe20T Air Press

Reply:VERY professional looking.  What brand mechanism is on it?  You may have mentioned it but I forgot.  30+ yrs Army Infantry & Field Artillery, 25 yrs agoMiller 350LX Tig Runner TA 210, spool gunLincoln 250/250 IdealArcESAB PCM 500i PlasmaKazoo 30"  vert BSKazoo 9x16 horiz BSClausing 12x24 lathe20T Air Press

This machine has a water bed 6 to 8" below the material that traps 60% of the fumes....the rest gets pulled downward by a 1200 cfm fan through two Torit brand welding fume filters. No fumes, no splash, no outside connections. Drawback: the filters clog and need cleaning periodically. This machine was built to demo low cost cnc plasma for trade shows.First pick is at final assembly at my shop in NH, second is at the SEMA show in Vegas.Jim Colt
Reply:That is great. I had been thinking about a small CNC table and this fits the bill exactly.Have you posted any details on the build somewhere?
Reply:No....No details have been posted as this was a one of a kind prototype that was designed and built in about 2 days. It has been to numerous trade shows and demos.....will build more as time permits!Jim Originally Posted by taz00That is great.
