Wide belt sanders

I need a machine to do #4 finish on stainless square tubing, like a timesaver. I'm currently doing it with a handheld pneumatic drum sander. Any recommendations?Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools

Reply:Its not a wide belt but I have a scotchman 3" belt sander, its rated 5 hp. It has rubber tires on the sanding belt drive and a platen on top for "surfacing" although that part doesn't work as well as I'd hoped. (maybe my fault) At first I wondered if I'd really use it but it is indispensable even for me (hobbiest/idiot)I can't slow the thing down no matter what I try. I can make lava with it if I want. It really removes some material quick for a sander/grinder.Belt grinders can round leading sharp edges due to the belts tendency to bunch up a bit against the workpiece leading edge even if tension is right. Supposedly not great for sharpening. But that's not what you are looking for anyway.The sound is much nicer than any hard disc/wheel/angle grinder. Mostly the whoosh of the motor and belt. I like it best for cleaning up round stock but use it for lots of things.Fein is making what looks like the identicle machine. Reply:You dont need a wet type for StainlessGet yourself a Linisher , its one of those tools that has so many uses and does what it does so well and easily you will wonder how you lived without it.This one gets used everyday and was made around 1950's ?
