Cost of rem/drops

I just got back from one of my local suppliers and paid $.50/lb for some odds and ends from their remnants/drop/cuts section.  I have no idea if this is a good price or not.  Just curious what others are paying in comparison.  When I buy 20' sections for most of my regular stuff it works out to $.70-$.80/lb. usually.  So I guess it sounds ok when looking at new stuff but still not sure.
Reply:.65 per pound same price as full lengths if you get at least 100 lbs otherwise less, then it is $1.30/lb

Reply:At my favorite supplier:  $0.35/lb, no minimum.  Good place -- they let you walk all over the yard and into the building (if you need new steel) to pick out whatever you want.  I can spend an hour picking through the drops and used steel, and they never act like I'm in their way.At the little place down the road from them (more like a scrapyard), it's $0.25/lb, IF they are open.  They don't keep regular hours -- it's run by one guy in his mid-80s and he opens up if he feels like it.  You never know what he'll have.
