Local shop has an older 50lb sealed can of 7018 rods that I can get for less than $0.50/lb....any reason I should pass? I know the can is still sealed, so the rods should be dry, but has anyone ever opened a sealed container and found contaminated rods?
Reply:No not contaminated rods, but broken rods tho! Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:If you're going to burn them up practicing, I'd say go for it. If they're meant to make you money on a job, then you be taking your chances.
Reply:You bought 50lbs, you got 50lbs. They didn't say all the 50lbs would be attached to the rodsEdit: before some dood posted between posts Response to CEP's post"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Yeah, you may find that a lot of the flux has been knocked off from the can being abused. I wouldn't even use them for practice but that's just me.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:Just popped into my head, has nothing to do with rodsAbout time to cube the cows. K'kins shows up from work pretty soon, she always helps. She's a WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Carry on"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I just bought a 50lb can of older 7018 as well. The can was not all beat up so I figure the rods should be ok. Brian
