So I got some seat time today on my new ESAB 161. I do miss having a gas solenoid. My Dialarc HF has me spoiled. I have seen guys use stretch arc but I have never tried it. Man a 17 torch is huge I got used to using my small water cooled. So do you just get in a rhythm and turning the gas on and off is just second nature? I bought this as a small portable toy to play with. This forces me out of my comfort zone. Lift the torch after you scratch it. Keeping the tungsten off of the base is what I was always told. So touching off is just weird.Do you all have any pointers for learning lift arc?
Reply:It just takes getting used to...But i like it better than scratch startYou just have to remember to turn on the gas and turn it off ...also if you long arc on a trailblazer it will start either the auto crater fill shutdown or the regular shutdown sequence whichever one you have it switched toBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me What would SATAN do ?? Reply:My old trailblazer doesn't have you need the new technology. So it will probably just shutdown. Yes you're right you do have to remember then turn the gas on and off. I'm super happy with the system right now.
