Does anybody know what gauge of wire is used for the ground clamp on the old lincoln AC 225,I am going to replace the ground clamp and need to get a solder on lug for the wire and was just wondering if somebody knew just off the top of their head what gauge it was.I've been to the lincoln site and the only info I can find is the stock number,no specs on it,the number is-S11609-3Last edited by dugndeep; 10-10-2010 at 11:39 AM.Maxus Pro-125 MigChicago Electric 90 amp DC flux-coreLincoln Electric AC 225 tombstoneO/A torchM/O mini-torch10 acres of flatland15 acres of holler
Reply:It might be no. 2,the outside diameter is 7/16",no. 4 welding cable is .350" outside diameterI figured all of the writing was wore off of the cable but up next to the welder it wasn't,the answer is 4 awgdelete this questionsLast edited by dugndeep; 10-10-2010 at 12:16 PM.Maxus Pro-125 MigChicago Electric 90 amp DC flux-coreLincoln Electric AC 225 tombstoneO/A torchM/O mini-torch10 acres of flatland15 acres of holler
Reply:I don't have your "size" answer, but the gauge of wire is determined by the length of total feet in the welding circuit and the max amperage. There are a lot of charts out there, that have the recommendations.-Rhyno07 Fowler 200D65 RedFace04 Miller TB 302, 22hpMiller 12RCMiller HF 251-1Lincoln SP135HyperTherm PM 380and a few others... Reply:It is number 3 cable that comes with the newer AC225's. Number 4 is enough for most applications and number 2 would be a little overkill but better too big than too small. |
