I have a Lincoln SP-100 and under the door it lists .025 - .030 solid, .035 flux core. Why does it not list .030 flux core? Is it not a good idea to use it on this machine? I used some earlier and did not encounter any real problems other than the fact that I have to play around with the feed/volts to get the bead to lay down decently. I will get larger wire if I need to. However, if the wire is almost the price of a 40cu ft. bottle of gas, then I will go with the gas. I have about 6 or 7lbs of solid .025 left and man does it make a pretty weld.
Reply:i dont know, my sp 135 is the same way.   my guess is that your sp 100 would run .03 flux core better than .035
Reply:if had to guess why they don't write .03 innershiled on the chart.  is because Lincoln only recently started making 10lb spools of .03 in innershield.
Reply:My TA 181i says the same thing on the door.  Parameters for .024 and .030 solid but only .035 flux core.  I just turned everything down about 10% or so for the .030 fc and it seems to be about where I want it.
