Edit....sorry....dumb question...dx is better if you u can afford it.Last edited by Bosco99; 12-16-2014 at 03:02 PM.Reason: edit edit
Reply:I would never complain about havin to many amps. I was using about 170 last night on 1/4 inch steel and the 200 probably has a higher duty cycle. I would think this comparison is a no brainier!
Reply:My heavy metal days are behind me. It's all stainless sheet 20-22 gauge for years to come. Don't need big amps but do wonder if the Maxstar has more flexibility, programability, and finese in the thin metal ranges. But is it worth spending more for the DX for such limited application?
Reply:I couldn't answer either question. I bet there both good as far as welding thin stuff. I think that more up to your skills tho. Kinda like riding dirtbikes doesn't matter the bike you ride
Reply:I'm using an invertec V160-T pulse atm, last week i welded a 3 foot dianeter, sch 40 carbon pipe with it, had it running at max amps almost continuously for nearly 3 hours in 100 degree heat without hitting the duty cycle, although another 40 amps would have been nice, runs a nice bead with 7018's as well, i personly rate the v160's quite highly.
