Its been a journey. After saving for months and reading and doing all my homework about compressors, filters, plasma cutters and I even plumbed up my own air system in the shop. I finally fired off my new Hypertherm Powermax 30. HOLY #*@&!!!!!! Its awsome. It was exciting for an office guy to do this on my own (with lots of questions/answers from friends and guys from here) and it sure beats the way I was able to cut metal before (saws, grinders, etc).I think the best part is that the process made me smarter.............Thanks everyone!!!Tim from Idaho

Reply:Glad you like it. Like said you will never regret a hypertherm. They are the best of the best for plasma. I gave been running my CNC plasma with a powermax 65 for a few months now, and I'm still impressed everytime I fire it up. I'll never own anything else.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
Reply:NoBigDeal Fab. What brand of CNC do you have? I've been looking at purchasing one and would like to get input from whom ever I can about preferences and why you chose what you did. I will be running a PM65 as well.

Reply:Originally Posted by Brand XThat is just a opinion, and shared by many, but still a opinion. Have you tried all the current machines out on your table? I like my Esab 1600 better then my friends Hypertherm 85 on his table. Both are great machines, but I find I like my Esab better overall. This is my opinion too, but based on comparing the two machines..(torches too)
Reply:[QUOTE=NoBigDea On that note, (and keep I'm mind I'm not bashing here just stating my observation) but I don't see esab posting on just about all forums offering support. Jim colt is always ready to help. Let's assume esab had a better machine, but without support when there is a problem where do you turn? The support goes a long way towards a quality product.[/QUOTE]You would call Esab Plasma support, but I have been able to figure any issue out myself. After a while of doing this, it's old hat.. I am just so impressed with their new machines, and know what the others work like. Just nice to have options, and know there are other machines that are awesome in every sense of the word.Lets give a little bit of credit to Les at SheetCam too.. Been using it for close to ten years, like Tom's stuff.Last edited by Brand X; 10-14-2012 at 12:23 PM.Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i

Reply:Every user has their preference for plasmas and welders. In my position I have had the opportunity to use many different brands of both air plasma as well as industrial oxygen and high definition class plasma's. Testing and benchmarking the performance of all brands (including our own) is the best way to realize areas of performance with a plasma that one company may have advantages with. Everytime Hypertherm releases a new product....it has addressed any areas of improvement that are necessary in order to be the best in all areas of performance. It is hard to compare plasma's when they are mounted on different cnc machines....as the machines motion and height control capabilities have a 50% effect on what the plasma can cut. On many machines the operator has a major impact on cut quality as well!Regardless...I'll be here to help with any and all plasma cutting issues. Jim Colt
