finaly got the old sa-200 done and working good

Wired the hole thing up as wires were all cut and crack, did a fresh paint job, rebuilt the idler board, it had a bad Q2 (transitor was shorted out, cheap fix, $ 6.97 LOL ,new reed switch,All the rest just needed a good cleaning or sanding .OH ye, the rad was rotten out so I found a nice 4 core rad for free from a forklift that was the same size, this sucker shouldnt heat up in the hot summer days LOL . This sa-200 is running just like a kitty,and it welds very nice,Turned out to be a nice little project that paid off at the end with out costing me a arm and a leg .Here is a few pic from before and aftercocomunk Attached Images

Reply:It was already on it, but it does work realy good, as soon as you strick a arc the machine rev up , and there about a 10 second delay before it turn back down to idle, so plenty of time to change your rod and restart welding, I was a welder by trade for many years and use to weld and repair  those sa-200 a long time ago and I realy like the electric selinoid , never had to much problem with them. All of them are good but the selinoid doesnt have  many moving part like the rest of them, less moving parts is less trouble for me anyway.So yes I like it and if the other type is giving you trouble, dont be shy, the selinoid is a good way to go.cocomunk
Reply:ThanksPapalion sure rubb it in, (  We got NO snow  ) us either but you can feel the sucker coming and I dont like it LOL. Not sure if I'm going to keep it as I dont do outside jobs no more, all the work I do on the side is in my shop. So maybe i'll just sale it and get myself a nice little mig that can do bodywork and thin stuff as I dont realy have nothing here to do thin stuff and it would be more handy for me then the sa-200.cocomunk
Reply:Your the man. Fixed a pc board at the component level when others would have put out the cash for a new board. Way to go.Nice project too. That's why I like these welders.
