lincoln popping

i have a lincoln pro mig 135. i am welding up my torque boxes on my car and the welder is pulsing, you can hear it when your not welding in the motor. im using gas and .030 wire. the shop im using has 220 power run there for everything, no pole or breaker box, just 220 power. could there just not be enough power to push the welder or is it my adjusting, it will pulse for a minute then let off for a second and will weld fine for a minute. im lost i tried for several hours and finally give up for the night. thanks for any help or suggestions

Reply:Could be a liner problem, have you replaced that at all? What brand wire are you using also? Big spools or little ones? Check the tip to make sure there is not too much play with the wire in it, make sure there is not too much tension on the spool/drive roll. There are many "little" things that have to be set just right for a machine like that to run perfectly.
Reply:i am using an 11 pd roll of wire. i will check the tension on the wire tomorow is there a way to check the liner? thanks for the info. i will let you know.

Reply:were talking about a little MIG welder, not an engine drive machine. what brand is the wire? you can pull the liner out and check it for kinks but if its a dirt issue, theres no good way that i know ofto check them. liners are only about $10, wouldnt hurt just to replace it.
Reply:took some tension off and made a change for the good, i will be getting a new liner tomorow thanks for all the help.
