Ok I have a Tig 250/250 8809-c AC-582609 that will be 28 years old Tomorrow! Coincidently I'll be 28 years old in 3 days. I've had this machine for about 5 years and never really used it. It's always been stored inside. I pulled it out and hooked it up a couple days ago because I need to learn/weld some aluminum. HF was working ok for about 5 mins and then it just disappeared. I checked spark gap and set it to .040" and it worked for another 5 mins and now nothing. I took the machine apart and mashed the pedal a couple of times.... I had spark on the spark gap and spark across the choke pieces! after a couple pedal mashes there was no longer a spark across the spark gap but there was still arcing between the chokes. I took the chokes apart to show the arcing.....What do I do now? What do I check/test/fix? Is is just simply a matter of insulating the chokes better? Thanks for your time,Adam
Reply:Well, I cleaned up the chokes and reassembled it. So far so good! |
