I have been trying to find a tig nozzles that are larger than #8 but still in the 54n series. some manufacturers list a #10 #11 and #12 but nobody seems to have any in stock except for this http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...1L._SY355_.jpg54N19 which is so short it is flush with the gas lens. Does anybody use this? What for? and why so short?Lincolin Power Wave 450, Lincoln Powermig 255, Lincoln Pro Mig 140, Lincoln Squarewave Tig 275, Miller Big 40 G(with Hobart Hefty suitcase), Thermal Arc 95S and Esab PCM875 in an already full machine shop.

Reply:If ur welding titanium. Or maybe if you gota pull the tungsten out like 2 inches but you would need like 50 or more cfh. I use a # 5 cup to weld 1/4 aluminum no problem. What are u welding?
Reply:That's to make your torch feel like your holding a bazooka. If you need wider gas coverage or a longer stick out to get into tight deep spots there are way better options. Not saying that wont work, and I have them, and have used them, not lately tho bud.I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys

Reply:When I run a 5/32 tungsten on big aluminum sometimes they crack from too much heat. My tig will go up to 315 amps. I have the next size up gas lenses but sometimes they are too big.The ones at arc zone are listed as the same length in the chart but when you click the drop down menu they are listed as short.Just wondering if anyone had used the short ones and whyLincolin Power Wave 450, Lincoln Powermig 255, Lincoln Pro Mig 140, Lincoln Squarewave Tig 275, Miller Big 40 G(with Hobart Hefty suitcase), Thermal Arc 95S and Esab PCM875 in an already full machine shop.
Reply:I've seen guys put screens in for there own diffusers
Reply:smaller cup usually helps on aluminum, too much gas coverage seems to pull too much heat away from the puddle. On stainless or titanium is where large cups are a big advantage. |
