Just finished welding up the legs for a desk that I made from unused bamboo flooring. 1.5"square tube 0.125 wall welded with ER70S2 0.030" wire. Here's the desk top I will be attaching them to. I will be adding gussets for lateral support that will attach the the crossmember between each leg. ~Justin Manufacturing EngineerWWU Vehicle Research Institute c/o 2010

Reply:What did you mount the flooring to? Plywood?Desk looks awesome.
Reply:That looks very nice but I do have one small suggestion. In the first picture you can see the seam in the tube on the one on the right. It will make things look better if you turn that to the inside. Even with powder coating, that seam can still show up on some tube and that leg will just look different than the others.
Reply:Bob. Good catch. I will mount that facing inwards and at the back, so it won't be too visible. I'll keep any eye out for that in the future. I've used this pipe and painted it before and have never seen the seam but it's worth watching out for if I have the option. And yes, the wood is mounted to two sheets of 1/2" plywood simulating a subfloor. 1 sheet of 3/4 would've been fine but I had a bunch of 1/2" around so doubling up on that was what I chose to do. Anything thinner than 3/4" and I'd be filing down/cutting nails on the bottom.~Justin Manufacturing EngineerWWU Vehicle Research Institute c/o 2010

Reply:Bluto,Great looking table!Any details or pictures on how you made the edge of the table top?Did you use bamboo moulding or did you miter some of the floor boards?
Reply:They are just the same floorboards mitered and dressed to fit the outside. I cut off the T&G to make these pieces look nicer and be easy to sand and finish.~Justin Manufacturing EngineerWWU Vehicle Research Institute c/o 2010
