I am wondering what sort of monkey math is used to rate the h.p. of electric power tools.I recently bought a Dewalt cut-off saw and noticed it was rated at 4 h.p.,15 amps,120 volts.Miller a/c-d/c Thunderbolt XLMillermatic 180 Purox O/ASmith Littletorch O/AHobart Champion Elite
Reply:My math comes up 2.4 HP w/ 15 amp draw. 4 HP would pull 25 amps. Go figger!! Maybe they derive their HP from locked rotor amps. Reply:Craftsman was/is bad about this also. If i recall they are taking the locked rotor amps and then working backwards to find the hp, really is a scam if you ask me.miller... 225g, s32p, 250x, 304, 12vs, MSW41 victor o/a thermal dynamics cutmaster 50 lenco panel spotter hobart hf-boxG3 Farms.....raising cattle, hay, kids and hell, ...oh yeah I'm a fire sprinkler contractor by trade.
Reply:I was thinking it might be rated at locked rotor amps.I would have thought it would be rated at the current it can besafely operated at,not at the current it trips a breaker orgoes up in flames.I guess we file this under "Slimey advertising crap".Miller a/c-d/c Thunderbolt XLMillermatic 180 Purox O/ASmith Littletorch O/AHobart Champion Elite |
