I have a Lincoln Pro Mig 140 (s/n M30907012xx Code 11173) that I installed with flux core wire. I purchased this machine new from Lowes. It has been used less than one hour intermittently in the last a couple of weeks. I have been welding .065 wall tubing. It was working fine when I finished with it last week. Today, I made two tack welds and then it quit feeding wire. The fan runs. I removed the tip and made sure I could move the wire manually. I checked the reset button and the small connector the feed the switch on the handle. With the cover open, I pressed the trigger to see if the wheel that feeds the wire was turning. It was not turning.I tried to submit a question on Lincolns site but received an error message that stated I should try again later. Any suggestions as to what is wrong?ThanksGary
Reply:the only easy thing I could think of would be the gun connections to the machine??
Reply:With the welder unplugged from the 110v power, I checked continuity of the trigger switch. It works as expected.
Reply:test the feed motor with a 12 v batteryif that works then it back to the gunif not then open-er up and get out the multimeteridealarc 250/250 ac-dc tigidealarc 250/250 ac-dc tig #2 used for sticklincoln sp100hh125dual arbor grinder polisher30 yrs of hand tools52 pitch blocks 6p-26prake gauge -pitch gaugeG&D prop repair 918-207-6938Hulbert,okla 74441
Reply:What prop-doctor said.I suspect the reason you got the error message was due to Lincoln updating their website with a facelift.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I think my next step is to try to exchange at Lowe's for another or take to a Lincoln service center.
Reply:It still has warranty by serial number. So if the mig gun trigger tests good. Take it to your local service shop. The mig gun has a shorter warranty than the welder. You do not want a surprise. Take your sales receipt with you as it is shows when your warranty started. test your miggun. make sure there are no shorts from the weld conductor to the trigger leads. and you can see the trigger open and close.
Reply:I'll take it to the service center tomorrow.ThanksGary
Reply:The guy at the Lincoln serivce center test the welder and found it has a bad board. They will make repairs under warranty.
Reply:Cox Equipment in Indianapolis repaired the welder under warranty. It works great now. |
