Reply:I am definitely going to have that music streaming into my phone the next time I go ask for a raise. It is irrelevant that I don't like the product but it is also irrelevant that somebody somewhere thought that that was a marketing attempt.

Reply:that is a clever idea. the only problem if you want to call it that is any welder interested in the product will build it himself.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:I liked the part about "precision grinding".  That drill was bouncing all over the place...precision???  Maybe tolerances were +/- quarter inch. I couldn't turn that d*mn music(?) off fast enough!!!

Reply:Its a good concept. A guy often needs a bench grinder or sander of some type in the field where he needs to keep his hands free. But I've got an idea to improve on that. Couple tabs going from the handle holes down  to a bracket that cradles the grinder and clamps in the vice, or makes it so it can be clamped to a table, or welded to a clamp itself... hmm....Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.

Reply:I've been planning for making a holder for my angle grinder, for those times when the grinder is a good enough tool but I want/need both hands free to work with. But it wouldn't look anything like that, and it certainly wouldn't cost anywhere near that much. As you said, to me that looks like a cheap "Buy it while it lasts, only $19.95!" TV shop item in need of a way better demo video, and just about everyone on weldingweb would build one of their own preferred design instead if they wanted one.
Reply:"Get a second tool, free! Just pay separate shipping and handling. One for the workbench, one for the... other end of the workbench!"Paddle switch users, you're out of luck.

Reply:Looks pretty useful as a tie and belt closet organizer. As a grinder stand, the design is not one I would choose. The feature shown should be the secondary feature of a stand that makes the grinder into a small chop saw.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:It is a tough crowd but I think it is a fair crowd.Did you ever see a crappy fabrication job that someone thought it a good idea to crappily weld their initials into the work? The guy takes the time to craft his name into the tool which does look good and so does the tool finish but seeming does not even know how to use a grinder. He might have mounted it on something level. He might have used some less knackered clamps and he might have found a better backdrop. He could have just mounted in place of the side handle a stud with a flat and been able to accomplish all of this with a bit less effort. We all can't be inventors. I admit I was heartbroken for a few years when my knife helmet did not catch on and when I was never crowned ISDE champion so I moved from my fantasy to reality. It is kinda hard to knock a guy out there attempting to do stuff though but it is what it is. Come back stronger I guess.

Reply:No guard of any type on the grinder!   No way any company is going to give you general product liability insurance on that.   I think the OP should get together with the guy that made the killer radial arm metal saw with self ejecting blade a few months back.    They would be unstoppable.... until on of there combined inventions killed them anyway.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250

Reply:Whadya mean, that's a shoddy invetion? cut a round piece of 1/4" plate or heck, use a big washer, weld a piece of 1/4" round stock to it in the perpendicular, mount onto grinder then mount grinder face down on the sooper dooper Stinnett  "Grinder Angle Finder Frame". In a glass put an ounce or so of booze, fill with ginger ale, beer or other suitable liquid, turn grinder on and slip into glass, Dats one heck of a swizzle stick. You won't ever have to worry about dropping your mix stick into the ashtray and it's always ready to go... It's amazing what a guy can get for a stinkin' 50 dollar bill. Dedicate a $20 HF grinder for the setup and you're rarin' to go at the drop of a hat 24/7.When a welder tells you to "stick it", what do they really mean?"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." - George Orwell
Reply:Or you could just clamp the dang thing in your bench vise and do the same thing. Heck, I don't know why they make crank shaft grinders when that is available, being as it is so precision and all.
Reply:Gonna melt your artificial turf like that.I can also imagine all sorts of fun when the handle vibrates loose. You get what you put in and people get what they deserve...
Reply:Actually this is a very good and useful idea that is needlessly expensive and too complicated for what it does. I just read this thread and tomorrow using SLA, s__t laying around, will make one that is more sturdy for only the cost of time. The 180 degree compass slot is just plain silly and can only be the inventors half-baked fantasy way to attract channel 201, 2:00pm on Saturday, gizmo people. This is a 1950's Popular Mechanics kinda thing that I was raised on and dig.

Reply:Soooo, picking through scrap drops I found a good piece to play with. In 20 mins I was done. Replaced handle with bolt for the too obvious reasons:LET"S CHECK'R OUT! Hand sharpened TIG electrode, rescued bunged up driver and sharpened dull cold chisel. Actually did a better job on the chisel than any other way I have available. After this pic I chucked the tungsten in a drill motor and put a beautiful point on it in no time:A regular stone is too coarse for this kinda work; an .045" cut-off is much finer and way less wobbly. The lower slot on stand is for 1/4" stone as for different clearance. Immediately I thought of several easy-to-make improvements; a guard and a stop to keep tool from rotating.Anyway, simple tool that I'll throw in the bug-out tote for remote jobs. Thus I thank the OP for piquing my brain.
