I was given a stainless sink that came out of a restaurant.   It is a great size for me, but it leaks.  The thing was originally constructed from a full width U-shaped piece with a couple of ends and dividers soldered in.   I assume it is silver solder.I would like to tig this thing back together for use in my shop.   Can I remove the solder with an OA torch?   Any problems/issues welding it after the solder joints are broken and cleaned up?Thanks!
Reply:My boss used to work at a shop that did stainless kitchen stuff and he said they TIG welded everything. Not trying to say you're wrong, just that it may be welded. Try striking an arc on it and see what happens.
Reply:You should be able to weld it, but why grind out all the original solder and reweld? Why not just use some silver solder or another type and braze the crack or leak up?Millermatic 211Miller Syncrowave 350lx with cooler and tigrunner Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 811955 National Cylinder Gas O/A setup with original patina
Reply:+1, unless you plan on changing the size of the sink.ChrisAuction Addict
