Can I run my 140c off my Ranger 8 ?

This is going to sound like s dumb question but I'd rather look stupid than burn up my 8.I hrecently bought a 140c mig. The outlets in my garage cannot handle the machine. It will blow hte breaker if I weld too long with it. I need to run a dedicated outlet to my garage for it but is it ok to run it off the aux power on my Ranger 8? It' seems to work very well. In fact the Mig seems a touch smoother ?? Placebo effect ? I'd lkike to ideally get a ln25 but as a hobbyist who doesn't leave the garage I could not justify it. Reply:You'll be fine KennyWhen my shop was being built I used my miller Bobcat to run my old Miller 250 CV with a wire feed. It isn't as smooth as a good electrical service but I welded a lot of hours this way.Leo

Reply:I am not familiar with the 140C , is that a 115 or 220 volt machine. The reason I ask is I have and old miller side kick 115 V machine rated for 90 amps. It will run from a 15 amp plug but it is recommended to be run from a 20 amp plug. Most of the time the 115 outlets are 15 amp uless it's for the microwave or AC. The 20 amp line does make a noted difference and improvement. I believe the plugs on the Ranger are rated for 20 amps. You may just need a 20 amp line and plug in your garage from your existing service.
