precision tig 185 no output in tig mode

my welder is about 6 yrs old  and very little use. i tried to use it one day and have no output at all in tig mode, when in stick mode it stick welds fine, does anyone have any ideas, call lincoln and all they said was most likely the pc board, but i do not want to spend 700.00 dollars with out knowing for sure that is the issue
Reply:Get a multi meter and test your foot control. Make sure the switch and pot are working.There is a wiring diagram inside the foot control.With foot control working see if you can scratch start the torch.Does the HF spark when the foot control is depressed?I have seen these units not want to start all the time. Take out the HF points and clean the on a wire wheel. Put them back in and set the gap.See what happens and report back.
