Anyone with an Evolution Steelsaw2?

Pretty sure the wife is getting this for me as an Xmas gift, any opinions on it?Ill be using it mostly for round and square steel tubing, steel plate (prob 1/4" Max) and prob some aluminum down the road.
Reply:It will work great for that. For aluminum you may want to get some stick wax type lube and run it along the cut line on aluminum.  I have a stick of lenox cutting/tapping paste that comes in a grease gun type tube. Reply:They are good tools, Hardly no sparks and a nice quick cut, But be careful of the noise, They are very loud

Reply:Lol yea I went through all the YouTube vids  I was in the air between the rage2 and steelsaw2, decided on steelsaw2 and then ill get a cheap miter saw for wood (I rarely work with wood)
Reply:hi,i have an evolution steel saw EVO355, was pretty happy with it until i realised it was actually not cutting really square !!! Tried to see what i could do to get the blade and the baseplate more square but i don't see anything to do ! Reply:thanksi did this but the strange thing is when i put a square against the blade it looks alright, but after cutting a tube for example, it's not square ! like the blade is twisted or somethin'Also, i can never get to 45° cut either, at the maximum of the miter, i cut with something like 44° or somethin, so i always get a gap when welding two pieces at 90° ... pain in the a...  maybe should try to send it back for guarantee like you said

Reply:I think you guys are trying to use these rage saws for precision cutting and thats not really what they are designed for, If you need something cut accurately you need to use a bandsaw or tack the workpiece up correctly before welding.These saws vibrate a lot, the build in clamp and the bit you adjust for angles is kept to a minimum, Don't try and do high precision work or work which requires 100% acuraccy on these saws, because its not what they are designed to do.They cut, clean, quick , cool cuts with minimum sparks idea for everyday useage but you need to do the  precision bit yourself
