Any 355 square wave tig owners out there? I have managed to figure out welding steel fairly well but am kind of struggling with aluminum. Looking for some base settings for all these fancy knobs this machine has. I seem to be having trouble with burning the tungsten back up in the cup and a very erratic arc. I am on a.c. thanks
Reply:If the tungsten is melting you have too much current for the size tungsten, or vice versa, you have too small a tungsten for the amount of current. Also, the AC balance controls the percentage of DCEN and DCEP in the AC wave form. DCEP provides oxide cleaning action at the base metal but also dumps heat into the electrode, so this could influence elctrode melting if the electrode is too small for the current.

Reply:Turn all the fancy features off. Set the welder up as a basic unit. Learn to weld first with the welder set simple. Then try adding one feature in at a time. Some features do not work well with a remote control. They work best with just a start switch and the current set in panel.Like setting trigger in 4T. You can set a program of soft start, then weld, with or with out pulse , then ramp down to creator file. Tapping the start switch runs the first part, then tapping it again, ramps it down to off. Great for doing the same weld over and over. |
