Been using ryobi 18v cordless tools for awhile now. Some work great and some not so great, but I have a good amount of these tools. 1 battery and the sawzaw I was able to cut down at least 4 small trees in my brothers back yard. Angle grinder kills the use of the original batteries too. Recently I got the small vacuum cleaner/dust buster and some of the lithium ion + batteries. This vacuumhttp://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...1#.UOCgu45D3dkToday I took my christmas tree outside and it was a real tree and battery and left a HUGE mess on the floor and I took the small dyson out of the closet. The dc24 dyson that claims to never get clogged. Well it got clogged and did a ****ty job of cleaning. I grabbed my bucket top (shop vac) well needless to say that thing sucked too. Got clogged. To my surprise this little ryobi 18v with the lithium ion+ battery did a FANTASIC job. I used 2 batteries but wow this thing cleaned the crap out of the floor. It had more suction than both other vacuums put together. So if you have any of these batteries this vacuum is a fantastic buy and for only $25 I LOVE IT. I may even get another one to keep inside the house and use another one for the garage only.Other items I have:Angle grinder: Works good, but uses a lot of battery powerSawzaw: same as above. Works great, but drains the battery.Drill: Same as every other 18v drill. Works good, Nothing too special.Circular saw: works great, no issues at all.Jig saw. Works good for wood, never had luck with metal (then again I've been using crappy blades that gall up)Small fan: On low and the normal batteries I left this thing on overnight once and it was still on in the morning. Works great.Electric blower: I use it to clean the garage floor and blow the dust out. Works FANTASTIC.Impact gun: Don't have it, but my brother does and I used it; Plenty of power, good to have handyMultitool:http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...1#.UOCiVY5D3dkA little expensive, if I didn't have a credit I wouldn't have bought it. Didn't see any ryobi attachments at home depot, but the good news is that you can use bosch or rigid or dewalt attachments. It comes with the small wood cutting attachment and one for thin  metal. Doesn't work on a wood screw, tried that at home depot. And it comes with a small sander attachment.I'd say it's worth it if you plan on getting the right angle drill attachment, impact attachment, but for the price of the attachments (rigid ones) you can buy the entire ryobi tool. All in all, I love these tools. Have had them for years, my charger took a crap so I bought another one (really small charger) and it sucks, takes forever to charge so the money for the lithium ion charger and battery ($59) it is a great idea.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:My 18 volt are dewalt and I feel the same . They are all awesome and each has its place and limitations.   Buddy has Ryobi and bought them when first hit the market. He has had issues with battery life.
Reply:They are cheap and light weight.  Thats about The only good thing I can say about em. Good for a home owner but if you use em every day you might look into dewalt, makita, or milwaukee tools. A good set of Milwaukee tools with impact,  hammer drill, and sawzall will run about 500 and last about 5 years using them 8 hours a day in the worst of elements.  My v18s are 7 years old and still work but not as good as they used to. I will upgrade to the m18s soon.
Reply:I am a fan of them especially with the lithium batterys.....I agree they are homeowner quality but when i need a small battery operated cut off saw or reiprocating saw they do the job well.  I have almost a full set  of their stuff  i even use a battery operated blower for the side walk and front porchbobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder
Reply:I use the impact driver, it is one of the best battery operated tools i have ever had, but like all of these things on the list they have their limits. The grinder is great, i use it all the time but just dont expect it to compete with a corded grinder. Sawzall is also a favorite. Great if you have a small job off site and you dont need plug in power. Reply:Newer batteries are great but the original black and yellow ones are junk inside the first year.
Reply:I have the full ryobi set and I agree the black and yellow batteries don't last, but the large lithium battery is the cats meow. I have one and plan to purchase more. Will   Supports Autism Awareness                            My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .
