Reply:I tried to use the kid as a down payment but they wouldn't go for that. And yes, he is a good parts runner. Reply:nice haas . i have a VF-3 i bought new in 1999 .  had a few problems - replaced video board ($900)and vector drive ($1600)  , but that's chump change as far as cnc repairs go , and ~ nothing in 13 years.hass are lightweight machines , won't hog steel like a japanese machine , but are very good at what they do if kept within their limitations.  if you  use small diameter carbide endmills (under 1/2") and high feeds with light d.o.c. , theywill move alot of metal.... just nothing like a Mori-Seiki or Okuma-Howa with box ways .($200k+)the haas control is one of the most logical and easiest to learn . i  like it the best - it is  nearly selfexplanatory , and doesn't give you that brick-wall effect that a FANUC  control can have .i have the service manual for VF series machines . pm me if you need anything scanned .i think it costme about $300.good luck.Miller S60 feederCobramatic push/pull feederMiller CP-252tsLincoln Tig250/Tig250Lincoln weldpak 100 -italianC-H 90A- italianHarris & Victor O\Afull manual & CNC machine shop

Reply:I priced a Mori with the fith axis, and decided to stay with HAAS. As with all tools you have to know their limitations, I have had good luck with my HAAS lathe so I decied to go with their machining center. I got the fourth axis and had it wired for the 5th if I decide to put a trunion on it. Also had the Renishaw optical probe system put on and went with the low profile table to get 3.5" axtra Z clearence. Reply:tnmgcarbide,I got the HAAS tailstock to go with the HRT-210, I just pulled the 210 out of the crate yesterday and looked it over. I will look at the tailstock today and let you know what I think. I run Yuasa tailstocks on my two Bridgeport mills when I am using the superspacers. I think about ten or twelve year ago the Yuasa's were around $550-600.
