Making a 3rd hand from 3/8ths mild steel rod with SilBronze added to the contact points.HF 98233 Stick/TigHF  95136 PlasmaEastwood TIG200Eastwood MIG250Damn, I cut it twice already and it's still too short!
Reply:I liked the heck out of your video for several reasons,First of all, you sound just like Jody Collier, and at first I thought it was a vintage Jody shot I his home shop before he moved up. I especially liked seeing you using many of the same Harbor Freight stuff I got.But I'ma gonna testify here that alto your 3rd hand is sweet, I know of one sweeter still. These are already made and you can bend them in any position you want and even tote them in the house and they will assume and remain in any position you select, plus they look good and don't bytch or fart or eat your fav snacks or complain or get jealous of your dog or new neighbor gal. You can even set it in the passenger seat of your rig and use HOV lanes and drive guys goofy at red lights where they imagine you must be packin your stuff on a hose reel.Sorry, but this is the absolute best third hand ever made and you can have one too.https://www.realdoll.com/Enjoy

Reply:Nice fabrication.  You know, it could have been a LOT simpler with not so many cuts and bevels.  Take a long rod, a short rod, bend your angles heating the rods with a torch (even a MAPP torch would work), and then you have only one weld joint where the short rod meets the center of the long rod.
