i have a milwaukee dry cut saw and need to cut some 1-1/2" high psi pvc pipe. any problems with this? this blade is about shot so IF it were to do damage to it i wouldn't care, new one on order. but can't imagine how plastic would damage a blade that is used to cutting steel. if i shouldn't use it what would be a good tool to make a lot of cuts of pvc? thanks for any ideas or suggestions. cheers, jason

Reply:I've cut a lot of PVC with my wood chop saw. Just go kinda slow so it doesn't chip out.
Reply:thanks guys. i couldn't imagine that plastic would hurt it but it's the the things you don't know that can hurt ya'.
Reply:i'd use a new blade as well on something that thick, a dull blade will melt the plastic
Reply:I've been using band saw and I have blades that can be used both in cutting metal steels and plastic. I got no issues at all.Last edited by surfside; 01-16-2013 at 02:44 PM.
Reply:I can't see any problem, I've cut it lots of times with wood chop saws, skilsaws, handsaws and bandsaws.Looks like once you have tried it, you will be the expert on this madduck. Reply:a buddy made some target stands but cut the pvc by hand, he was looking for a way to make cuts quicker. hopefully we'll do some assembling sunday, depending on both his and my work schedule. i'll let ya' know. and the blade isn't gone, just used. i can cut smaller stuff ok, some of the 2" angle i've got i don't like the condition of the blade for that.
Reply:plastics are soft , but will still dull your band blades over time . pvc is an insulator , so any heat generatedis not dissipated and stays in the cut and blade . pvc is also abrasive , so it dulls the cutting edges -although much more slowly than cutting most metals . just remember to keep the feed on the fast side , the speed on the low side if it is possible (250-600sfm is where i like to start ) and keep the time in thecut as brief as possible .good luckMiller S60 feederCobramatic push/pull feederMiller CP-252tsLincoln Tig250/Tig250Lincoln weldpak 100 -italianC-H 90A- italianHarris & Victor O\Afull manual & CNC machine shop
