For all those with experience with a scratch start TIG set-up......wondering if the CK 17 will suffice or will I be wanting something like the CK 21 in the future? Thanks for any advice, and if someone happens to have a set-up for sale, then let me know. Thanks,Andy
Reply:By CK 21 do mean a water cooled torch? I think for scratch start you will do fine with an air cooled torch. You're not going to be on AC, and steel seldom needs more than 150-160 amps to weldMiller Multimatic 255

Reply:You want a 150 amp air cooled torch with a gas valve on it. That's all you need. My bet is you seldom use more than 100 amps for dc tig welding. If your welding heavier material than that, requiring more amps, just stick weld it.Last edited by snoeproe; 02-27-2015 at 09:11 PM.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
