Simple question from a newbie, should I bleed off the pressure on my regulator when I'm done welding for the day? Is there a right way and wrong way to do it on my tig welder or mig welder? Thanks for the help.
Reply:Some people do, they say it saves wear and tear on there regulators. I do not bleed off either one of my regulators and never had a problem. The mig welder regulator we have at work is atleast 20+ years old and been holding pressure pretty consistent since new without any problems. It's your choice.Millermatic 211Miller Syncrowave 350lx with cooler and tigrunner Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 811955 National Cylinder Gas O/A setup with original patina
Reply:I am just a hobby welder and just weld 2-3 times a year.  I'm not saying this is the absolute correct way, but just what I do.  When done for the day, I turn off the gas bottle, take the pressure off the drive rolls to save wire, and just hold down the trigger to bleed off the pressure.  Then turn off the welder.
Reply:I never bleed the regulators when done. But then we fire them right up the next day. In fact on occasion I check them for full pressure the next morning to see if they hold the pressure. If the needles are down I may have a leak that needs to be addressed. Right now 2 out of 10 bleed down on thier own and they are Dynasty350s. Could be hoses, fittings, regulators, or solenoids. Me thinks solenoids. Drives me nuts.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:I bleed down my A/O gauges and back the set knob out every time ( they will be 40 years old in 2016). All the flow meters never get bled down.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Dealer Consumables for the PT and IPT torch's
