Reply:great price... but be sure to ID company name on bottle. some gas companies never sold 5ft size bottles, only lease.... they will grab those bottles as theirs. make sure those bottles can be refilled before buying.... call Airgas to see if company name is one their list. since Airgas sold large used bottles... they cannot say with certainty your bottles are lease bottles and will probably fill/exchange. you may get popped with testing fees if bottles are out of date. best bottles to own are super rare bottle with no markings on neck. if you should luck out into such a bottle... insist on getting an unmarked bottle when exchanging. unmarked bottles can be filled anywhere without fuss. just be sure you get an unmarked bottle back. Reply:Hey, Socoj2.I have never had a problem exchanging Craigslist tanks with my local Airgas in Dalton. You can call them and ask if they will exchange. And they will gladly exchange an O2 for argon or mix. The ad says $59 each now with 2 left. That is a bargain, I just don't need another one.Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com
Reply:if these tanks are on Airgas' approved list ... tanks take up little floor space...$59 is worth buying, just for trading stock Originally Posted by wb4rtI have never had a problem exchanging Craigslist tanks with my local Airgas in Dalton. Reply:I have old welding oxygen tanks for the price of you removing. I bought a foreclosure of I guess a contractor as there are 7 old welding oxygen tanks. I need to start on the front yard, which is where I moved them in hopes of someone coming buy and tanking (pun intended) them all, but only 1 or 2 taken. E-mail with serious inquires only. [email protected].

Reply:Thanks for the free tanks. What a score, four oxygen bottles, two acetylene, and one I'm not sure of.I plan on starting a thread with pictures to see if anyone can identify what kind of tank the odd ball is.
Reply:Find out what VALVE it has. Will it accept a MiG/TIG flowmeter? If so, it's CGA 580 and can be converted to those gases.Shoot a clear pic straight into the valve opening.
Reply:Farmall, check out my thread on the general board.I posted pics there.
Reply:Hey, Showdog. You should have dropped me off one of those tanks on your way back home. I'm sure you went through Dalton, GA to get to Atlanta.Anyway, great score. I wish I had see that first!Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com

Reply:If you want to KEEP the blank neck ring, have another so while "blank ring" is in getting refilled you can still cut/weld. Beats exchanging it since there aren't always blanks for exchange. Trading down is fine as is getting a variety of sizes. I transfill my little tanks from my large ones.

Reply:Airgas are wise to exchange them. The whole point is to make MONEY. If they deter people from exchanging owner-size cylinders, they will not only lose sales to small users, they will sit on cylinder inventory. Small users can turn into bulk customers if their job changes or their business expands. Treat everyone reasonably and it can pay off. |
