truck bed winch mount

I built a winch mount for the bed of my truck so I could pull heavy objects up a ramp into the bed without picking them up.

Reply:The part of the angle iron, forward of the bed, that can't be seen goes the entire width of the bed.The winche's load is distributed along the width of the bed.The angle iron along each side bolts to the sides further distributing the winche's load and keeps the forward angle iron held down.The braket was made to easily be removed by unbolting the angle iron along each side.It works great for pulling heavy objects up the ramp without bending the front of the bed.It's a 2500 lb winch installed on a half ton truck.Meant for loading broken 4 wheelers, etc. into the bed.
Reply:by adding two flats or small angles to the corners to the winch mount, could save you some problems if you do get in a harder pull. Attached Images
Reply:All that you'd reall have to do is have the angle or whatever that runs under the bolt up to the frame and then bolt up through the bed to the angle where down tube runs.   On the floor of the bed makes sense.  Look where wreckers have their winches mounted on rollbacks. Same thing on trailers with winches.

Reply:I think, all stuff aside, that what we're dealing with here is winch angle/pulling angle.If you don't have a tailboard roller, you have to have a high angle to pull stuff up in the bed without damaging the tailgate, or binding the cable.I don't like the structural stuff here (angle iron and all, and thin stuff to boot), but I see the need.  And it's light stuff he's pulling."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
