Does anyone have any experience with the Hobart F Clamps? (Their Super Duty clamp's in particular).
Reply:They look identical to the harbor freight ones that i have. http://www.harborfreight.com/12-inch...amp-65683.htmlAnd if they are the same you will regret them, they quickly strip out, and bind up.I recently bought the strong hand version of the F clamps, and they are leaps and bounds better than the HF brand. Got them for around 35 bucks too at my LWS.
Reply:HF clamps are great if you're working on balsa wood or cardboard.
Reply:I have a bunch of the Strong Hand Tools f-clamps. You get what you pay for. HF clamps are junk...the strong hand ones are amazing, but they cost quite a bit more. The extra cost means they'll hold up to more than you can imagine. The Hobart ones look like they fall pretty low on the spectrum (bottom being HF, top being Strong Hand)...and I wouldn't buy anywhere but on the top side with a clamp. Especially f-clamps if you intend to use them for spreading (even if you don't intend to right now, you probably will use them for that at some point). I'd hate to see what would happen if one of those things let go when spreading some material out.--Wintermute"No man's knowledge here can go beyond his experience." - John Lockewww.improvised-engineering.comManufacturer Agnostic:Blood----------Sweat---------Tears----|------------------|----------------|----Lincoln Red, Miller Blue, Esab Yellow

Reply:I'd buy Strong Hand over the Bessey clamps because of the additional utility of the Strong Hand through the accessories that can be clamped to the anvil side of the clamp. Other than that, the Bessey and Strong Hand clamps are rated the same clamping force wise. Bessey has options for longer clamps than Strong Hand has (Strong Hand stops at about 20" clamping capacity, while Bessey goes up to 60" in their Heavy Duty line and 36 in their Extra Heavy Duty line). Strong Hand is made in the US, Bessey in Germany... The Strong Hand clamps are also reversible for spreading and I don't think the Bessey's are. Last thing is that the Bessey clamps cost quite a bit more than the Strong hand ones (jeebus they're expensive o_0).--Wintermute"No man's knowledge here can go beyond his experience." - John Lockewww.improvised-engineering.comManufacturer Agnostic:Blood----------Sweat---------Tears----|------------------|----------------|----Lincoln Red, Miller Blue, Esab Yellow
