I have a vertical/horizontal bandsaw and was cutting some right angle to weld up. It looked like the cut was wandering so I put a piece of 1 1/2" flat bar in it vertically and watched it cut the full width. The cut starts at one point and wanders back on an angle toward the clamp and winds up about 1/16" or so off from where it started. At the bottom of the cut, I could see the blade bending in toward the clamp in a slight curve. It doesn't tilt, it curves. The blade runs straight and true when not cutting. The blade tracks well on the wheels and doesn't move from where it should be. For some weird reason it starts bending in the middle toward (not away from) the clamp when it's cutting stock. The longer the cut, the more pronounced the bend is. It's like the metal is being pulled back causing the blade to bend but the clamp is tight and the metal is not slipping. Does anyone have an idea of what might be causing this? Attached ImagesLast edited by JD1; 05-10-2016 at 09:18 PM.
Reply:Try a new blade before making any adjustments to your guides or anything. Most problems like this are caused by a worn blade.Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com
Reply:Blade is shot, replace. Most cuts are always on the clamp side of the blade, most times it is full cuts but when you take blade width only cuts it is hard on the inside teeth. After you do enough the blade starts to wonder normally like you see towards the clamp side.I have seen this a number of times on my saw.12v battery, jumper cables, and a 6013.I only have a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/VPT/244788508917829
Reply:Blade is bad and or tension is too loose.
Reply:Actually it's a brand new blade and the tension is as tight as I can get it.I had to get something done yesterday, my old blade was completely shot, I couldn't find a blade at a local store, didn't have time to order one online so I ran over to Harbor Freight and got their bi-metal 10 -14 tooth blade. $30. Some things are OK at HF, some aren't. Maybe this blade is one that isn't or maybe my problem is something else and not the blade. Maybe the blade is poorly designed or perhaps I need to change some setting on the saw.I won't reject the blade just because it comes from HF, but I will reject it if others have had similar experience with that particular blade. That tells me there's data supporting the idea that the HF blade is only good for rough cutoffs. Is it possible for a blade to be made in such a way that the tooth set causes it to pull toward the clamp??
Reply:I find if I put to much down pressure on my saw it tends to get off line.
Reply:That's interesting, maybe I'll adjust the down pressure spring to pull some of it off and see what happens.Edit: I just tried it, put a bunch of turns in the adjuster to take weight off, did another cut beside the first two and same result.Last edited by JD1; 05-11-2016 at 10:47 AM.
Reply:Have you put a square on table to check blade
Reply:Another interesting suggestion. I eyeballed it earlier and it looked to me like it was at 90 degrees. But just now I put a square on it and the blade is tilted very slightly with the teeth being tilted toward the clamp and the top spine away from the clamp. That could be the problem. It would show up more on longer cuts like the ones in the photo. I'm not sure how to fix it though. The solution should be to move the tracking rollers over slightly but the bolt holes aren't big enough to allow any side to side adjustment.
Reply:Any adjustment by the hinge part of saw
Reply:I think it's fixed. I found that although there was no play in the tracking roller bolt holes, the bolts seem to be eccentric. I rotated one that was out a little, tightened it, checked the blade with the square, did another cut and the bottom of the cut is only off by less than 1/32 verses almost 1/8 on one of the other cuts I did. That's good enough for now. I've got more cutting to do today so I'll see if the fix holds up. I sure hope so. Good suggestion - that seems to have been the problem. The tracking heads are at a pretty good angle from the drive wheels so the tensioned blade has to be angled from where it is on the drive wheels so it sits precisely 90 degrees to the clamp. If that's a hair off of 90, you'll know it - as I found out. Maybe the eccentric shape of the bolts is designed to let you fine tune that angle.

Reply:There is also a single bolt at the motor end of the saw that those eccentric bearings are attached too. Check that maybe loosen and rotate a touch.
Reply:Is the HF blade .032"(I think that is what the saw calls for) thick? Is this a 7x12" saw or the 6x9"?12v battery, jumper cables, and a 6013.I only have a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/VPT/244788508917829
Reply:.032" and 6x9
