I just realized something today. Partly because of info I recieved that some Onan's on gensets were light green. My onan appears to be original (red) on my Lincwelder DC / 3-AS. But the tin for it is light green under couple paint jobs. The light green appears original for the tin. The name plate on tin says it is a CCKA-S 1627 G...But how do I know if the tin is off a Generator onan and may not truely be my motor? The s.n. stamped on top of motor is: 440166?. I hope to buy pistons down road but don't know what for sure I have. I hope the original name plate was transfered to the tin.  THANKS!
Reply:Call Lincolns 800# with the code off your machine. They can tell you exactly what motor is on it. The sticker was worn off my Kohler and I had no idea which one it was. I gave them the code and they gave me the model and spec# of the motor.Lincoln Ranger 8Lincoln 140c MigLincoln Tombstone(doesn't everybody have one ?)Miller 200Diesel/Heavy Equipment MechanicLead Plant Mechanic Municipal Water

Reply:Thanks Duane- TJ already got back to me!..What service. All numbers check out good. I think when/if I fix this motor..I'll go to them for the parts. More costly than say e-bay..But service and knowledge of your needs and assurance your getting the right part for the right motor is worth more money. Thanks again.  Gene
Reply:Opening a dead thread ..... I'm getting ready to buy one of these for 250.00. not running.  owner says it needs points and a battery.... but who knows  hopefully I'll be able to find points for it.  What I didn't know is that the gen output is 50hz????what could be the thinking there?  nothing in this country runs on 50hz that I'm aware of
Reply:You can operate some tools with brushes ...just nothing electronic... At least that was my understanding of the 50Hz... If you read the paperwork on some tools they say 50/60Hz .I have one of these machines and remember it requires TWO 12V batteries to start it. You can download a manual if you don't have one from Lincoln's website.Points shouldn't be that difficult to locate for a Onan motor.
Reply:I picked up a set of points and condenser for mine on e bay and they were about $12 . Mudbugone is right about the two batts and the 50Hz.He and alot of others on here are the best sorce to help you get it up and running again, I would be negotiating a little for a non runner,Good luckWell like they say in the Nut House --- I'M OFF
Reply:As mudbugone said, it takes two 12V batteries as they connect in series to make 24V for the starting system which uses the welder armature/stator as the starter "motor".As for the points, they may just need cleaning as they develop a film or crust of corrossion if sitting  long periods of time without running.  Quicker and more so in humid climates.  If they're pitted, then by all means replace them and the condenser too.  Pitted points indicates the possibility of an out of spec condenser. And I'm with doubled on it being serious bargaining time on a non-runner.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Engine is an Onan CCk. Has a cast iron block and cast iron rods. That makes max rpm 3000 and necessitates 50 hz. That was the best option 50 years ago and worked quite well and, yes, it used two batteries since starting was through the generator. Still, running a 60 hz motor can result in overheating. weldersales
Reply:Hey Larry, how ya been? I was going to mention the possible overheat issue and that running a 60hz motor on 50hz also results in almost 20% reduction in power and speed - hence the increased heat.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
