I have a precision TIG 225 machine. Can I hook up an independant wire feeder to this unit and MIG weld with it? Could I use my little 140c as the wire feeder and feed the voltage with the Precision TIG 225?
Reply:Welcome to Welding Web.To answer your question, long story short: NoYour TIG is a CC (constant current) power source. A MIG uses a CV (constant voltage) power source. To run a wire feeder you need a CV power source. The only exception is to get a VS (voltage sensing) wire feeder, like the Lincoln LN25 or the Miller VS12 suitcase wire feeders. These can be used with a CC power source, but don't work as well as a wire feeder with a CV power source. They are very expensive as wellgood luck"The reason we are here is that we are not all there"SA 200Idealarc TM 300 300MM 200MM 25130a SpoolgunPrecision Tig 375Invertec V350 ProSC-32 CS 12 Wire FeederOxweld/Purox O/AArcAirHypertherm Powermax 85LN25
Reply:As mentioned VS feeders don't do short arc mig well on a CC machine. You could possibly do large wire FC well in spray, but spray is a PITA in vertical and overhead. It's not what most people expect as "mig". You really need to get a CV powersource to be able to run a wire feeder..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
