Just a couple pics of the mig welder I picked up today. A friend of mine has one and its held up good for him. The thing I like about it most is the cast aluminium feed mechanism. Oh and this one has a real groud clamp, not just a jumper cable end!Last edited by jamesyarbrough; 02-25-2013 at 11:29 PM.
Reply:Supposedly not WW approved, but I don't see why not - I'm considering one for doing some sheet metal work (ironically on my SA200). I've been leaning a bit more towards Hobart, used to be a straight Lincoln guy, but some of the knock-off/lesser models can make life real difficult. Have had really good luck with some of the much bigger Miller machines, hoping the smaller ones are on par as well.Does Hobart have continuous control available, or are they tapped only?Bruce
Reply:Congrats, what is the going price for these now? I love mine. Does yours have a purge for the gas like mine does? I also see yours has 5 heat settings which the older ones don't. Reply:My HH 135 has had many, many pounds of wire ran through it with absolutely no problems. I gave to my Father when I picked up the MM200. I actually like the HH135 better for 1/8" on down because of the smaller, lighter gun.I am going to pick up another one sometime.Tim Beeker.
Reply:They are actually even better than they used to be. I looked at an older model the other day that only had 4 taps, a lesser ground clamp and it had plastic parts on the feeder mechanism. The new one has 5 taps, heavy duty ground clamp and cast aluminum wire feed mechanism. I'm extremely happy with this welder. It seems to be top quality and a steal for $500. Now i find myself eying the ironman 230.....its a beast of a welder for the price. If I can just figure a way to explain it to my wife.Last edited by jamesyarbrough; 02-26-2013 at 09:16 PM.

Reply:You'll like it. I used to have one, and it's a tough little welder. Never gave me any problems at all.Jack OlsenMy garage website

Reply:Do you have a picture of the wirefeed?I haven't checked out the newer Hobart 140's with the 5 tapped settings.I didn't know they had 5 settings. That's the reason I bought the Maxus 125 ,because of the 5 tapped setting's.Maxus Pro-125 MigChicago Electric 90 amp DC flux-coreLincoln Electric AC 225 tombstoneO/A torchM/O mini-torch10 acres of flatland15 acres of holler

Reply:The only button I see is the reset button on the back.

Reply:I have only read good reviews about this welder, one site had over 550 reviews, all 5 stars. That will tell you something about this machine. I'm going to pick one up this week, I'm excited
Reply:Could you put up a picture of the 8# spool adapter? I just picked up a used Handler 140 and it is missing the adapter. I'm thinking I will make one and a picture would help. thanksMiller millermatic 251Miller aircrafter 330st, wp201961 Lincoln SA200Ellis 1600 bandsawLogan 820 latheSouth Bend 13"Bridgeport M HeadSorry I already have a new spool installed. Its round and has that big plast nut on it. Its the same exact adapter that's in the miller 140. I just ordered one from my lws for a friend and they said its on back order and will take a couple weeks.
Reply:Here's a pic of it all set up. I have to say I'm very disappointed in the hobart cart from tractor supply. Its a complete pos. It cost $120 and I figured it would be almost as much to build one so I bought it.....big mistake. But I'm goin to stick it out for a while and then build a good one. For now I will probably just take some emt and make a handle for it and maybe something to hang the leads on.
Reply:Congrats, I loved mine.
Reply:Got that handle issue solved. I figured out I'm gonna need more practice with thin metels. Maybe I should take autobody welding too. Looks like hell but it matches the rest of the cart. Haha |
