Well,Our tractor rim finally rotted out beyond operability.....(If that's even a word)So, we happened to find a replacement rim at the junk yard.In repairable condition.I'll have to cut those brackets off, and weld them inside the new rim.Enjoy the pics....~JohnJust a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:Why is it on tractors the wheels always rot off the tires before the tires rot off? Must be the road salt. Good fix. Now you need to paint the rest of the tractor.Looks like your enjoying pleasant spring weather.

Reply:John, you went to too much trouble fixing that old wheel. About three beads of JB Weld and it would have been good as new!!!!! Jus' pullin' yer chain....nice job on the refurb!!

Reply:I have an older Yanmar loader and it needed new tires this past summer. The dealer recommended the beet juice for ballast. Have not had any problems The best part he stated was the environmental friendly and non corrosive aspect of it.That rim was nasty. You had alot of will to do this job.
Reply:I don't understand. It's one of the mysteries of life science hasn't answered. Aren't tubes supposed to hold chloride inside them? I've owned lots of tractors, the only ones that don't do that are the ones that don't have chloride in them. To me it seems 100% of them leak. I've switched to beet juice, and iron weights elsewhere on the tractor. After a dozen times of either buying new, or rebuilding old that had a repairable rust out I'm tired of it. Last fall I went through the issue of two similar sized IH utilities needing rims, and one needing two tires. Two new rims, tubes mounting, and beet juice cost $1100. The other tractor I settled for repairing using sections from the other wheels, and ordering liners from Gemplers. Tires had plenty of tread, but the sidewalls were shot.An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. Reply:Of course, But this is a tubed tire, with the valve core removed. The tube is 6-8 inches away from the weld, which were just repairing cracks that began from the lug holes, which were beginning to waller out.I began to fill in the holes, then took a die grinder and reamed them out to the right side. Then ground the faces of the rim flat....Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it.
