Every single one of those joints will shrink the length 1/16" and everything will fit a little bit different and the flange will pull out from being flat. Also it's best if you leave a .045" or so root gap, you can't really get full pen with them butted up unless you reallllly burn in hot (which is not a good thing to do here lol).My suggestion is to weld up the runners then weld them to the merge with the head flange tacked on, then if the head flange warps you can remove it and adjust the runners/gap as necessary to get the thing flat. It would even be a good idea to leave the tube that welds to the head flange 1/4" long and trim as a final step before making those welds. Make sure you bolt the head flange down to something extremely stiff. It's most likely going to curve regardless of what you do so just plan on needing to belt sander/machine it flat afterwards.

Reply:Have you figured out a way to flood the inside of the tubes with Argon while welding? If you don't do that the inside of the welds will be as rough as corn cobs... definitely will not help your exhaust flow.
