hi, my lincoln ranger 10000 with a subaru robin 20.5 hp is starting to give me problems...when i start it it will run for about 15 seconds then start backfiring & diei have cleaned the carb & changed the fuel pump with no success...it acts like something is shutting it down & i cannot figure it out...if anyone can give me some ideas on what to look for that would be great....thanks
Reply:Does that machine have a low oil shut down? I know some of the compressors I've used have a bypass you have to depress to start them, and some don't. On those, the bypass is done automaticaly and then resets after a few seconds once the engine starts. Sounds a lot like what happens when the low oil shut down goes bad..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:it has the low pressure shut off switch & i have jumped a wire across the wires with no success...is this the right way to bypass this switch or do i need to do something different? this thing has me puzzled
Reply:Chances are you have the valves set too tight..they seal ok when cold... as soon as they warm up and lengthen due to heat... they do not seal completely and you get those problems....Weldandpower Lincoln 225 AC,DC with Briggs 16hp gas engine.WW2 era Miller TIG.
Reply:this machine has 27 hours on the clock & is used mostley for the generator in the woods...i just looked in the book & it says adjust valves at 500 hours...when started it will run fine then POP POP POP then die...thanks for the replies...do you think i need to check the valves with these low hours? it was running fine then one day i went to start it & been having this problem ever since...
Reply:Sounds like the electronic timing advance failing to switch over from low to high speed timing control. Nothing in the Robin Subaru manual regarding any module testing. ???http://www.robinamerica.com/media/ma...8968757500.pdfLast edited by duaneb55; 09-03-2011 at 06:34 PM.Reason: added link to manualMM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:Thanks Duane , You just can not count on things being set up correctly from the factory... my neighbor's new 3010 JD has the hoses connected wrong on the front end loader dumping circuit... sign shows dump forward and if you follow that it pulls up... could be a bummer for a new user...Weldandpower Lincoln 225 AC,DC with Briggs 16hp gas engine.WW2 era Miller TIG.
