I got this HI-FREQ box a long time ago, and am just wondering what kind of power sources I can use. They were popular with the tombstone welders but am trying to take another approach w/a Harbor freight box.1. From reading about it a while back I read it doesn't recommend I use an inverter-type source. Any ideas as to why? It's my understanding that for aluminum Tig you want an AC source and for aluminum stick you need DC. the rig I'm looking at advertises both: http://www.harborfreight.com/135-ac-...der-97719.html2. however, I have a feeling that these hi-freq boxes only play nice W/AC and trying to feed DC would probably result in catastrophe. Anyone use these things to do AC TIG w/their tombstone?3. On a similar note, I suspect these were made for 220v welder, but could I conceivably use a 120V welder?4. The welder has a ''spark'' din connector that plugs onto a switch i got here. Will this din connector be the same used for a pedal (i see no other place to plug one in).My box looks like the following:http://images.craigslist.org/3n83m03...c7908e19fc.jpgLast edited by chingon; 09-09-2011 at 05:06 PM. |
