12VS or 8VS?

I really need a new wire feeder.. I want a 12vs, but they are so heavy, and pricey. I have a 8vs for $500, at half the weight and 1/3 the price of a 12vs, but it greatly limits my options when shopping for filler metals. Its going on an XMT 350 for the most part. How hard is it to put a Lincoln feeder on a Miller 14 pin connection? The Red-D-Arc sale ends soon, and I'm hoping to jump on it.Constant Current Weldor.
Reply:Vs feeders can go on any power source.....If it's a remote feeder, I'm pretty sure they aren't compatable thru out the different brands (red and blue)8vs will be just fine if your only running 8" spools.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:I am looking at a Suitcase or Lincoln benchtop. I do not like ln-25 or the guns that go with them. I don't have any problem with 8" spools, but they are hard to come by in some of the applications I use, most notably a D1.8 qualified self shielding wire. Reply:Brand X has a Lincoln machine on his Shopmate.You'll have to make an adapter cord to pick up 115 from your machine, and use a relay between the miller machine and Lincoln feeder since Lincoln machines use a nonenergized contactor closure.I'm sure Scott can tell you how he hooked his up.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:8VS or 12VS are voltage sensing feeders and don't use a 14 pin connection to the power source. Only difference between an 8 and a 12 is size of the spool they can take. Both will run off any DC power source.
