Last year I averaged 80 - 85 hrs/week, so I practically didn't strike an arc all year. So today I was messin at my playground, and just started brushing up on vert up's. Nothing special to look at, just sharing for the hey of it.......... AtomArc 3/32" @ 90A on Linc IA250. Same piece, two different pic angles. Welds look better than in pics, but not as nice as I'd like. Off to the left I was messin around with some 6011 I had, doin vert up whip's."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:3/32" is to easy, get some 1/8".... Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024
Reply:For me, it all depends in material thickness if I use 3/32 or 1/8 rod. On multi pass jobs, I'll weave my vert up welds with 7018 stick. Here is some 1/8. Reply:Looking good Sticky. AK, im with docwelder on this. 5/32 is a different animal all together. Arc blow, thumbnailing and all that fun stuff.I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:I worked for a guy once (for three days) who was whipping 3/16" 7018 uphill on some 1/4" sheetmetal for concrete forms. This guy had two speeds. Fast and ludicrous. You couldn't tell this guy anything either.I was gonna tell him to use 1/4" rod since it does such a better job on those uphill whips on sheetmetal, but I figured he wouldn't listen anyways Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:I've done some 3/16" 7018 vertical up on some very heavy wall 36" pipe Tee's but we were doing pretty wide weaves 1 1/4-1 1/2" wide.
Reply:5/32 is the largest 7018 I've ran vertical up. I've burned plenty of 3/16 but in flat and horizontal only.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720 |
